On Sunday, September 22, 2013, I had the privilege of playing with the late, great Dick Ray and his legendary band, The Spectras, at the fabulous Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom. This concert was done as a tribute to Dick's long career as a rock'n'roller. (I played with the Spectras for five years, and Dick and I also performed as a duo for quite a while on the side!)
It was great fun to hit this excellent headliner stage and sing some old standards such as "Vehicle" and "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" complete with the full horn section and 800 people in the audience! Quite a shift from my usual work in the acoustic realm! And most of all, it was a beautiful event for Dick to experience while he was still able to participate...rest in peace, my friend.
